From a band that used a mushroom as a symbol... Some truth in his musical criticism, but this sounds like some ole professional jealousy . After "Brothers and Sisters" they faded from the public view , and have had several small scale revivals . The GD went on to being this huge stadium filling band, who legend and achievement, the ABB still are in the shadow of . I could see being a little resentful .
In their prime, they were unapproachable as a Blues-Rock outfit , just listen to things like "One Way Out" ! But when all is said and done, the Dead were a much more multi-dimensional band, musically, intellectually , and emotionally .
